Progress
Since purchasing the house, our original plans have changed drastically. What initially began as a simple renovation gradually evolved into a full-scale refurbishment. As a result, many exciting stages of work still lie ahead of us as we bring our vision to life.
Initial Status
Since purchasing the house, numerous renovations and construction activities have been undertaken. What began as a minor renovation quickly turned into a major challenge. The original plan was simply to remove a few interior walls to create larger rooms and fix some leaks. However, beneath the surface, we uncovered issues that made a complete renovation necessary:
- Dampness in almost all the walls
- Leaking windows and roof damage
- No connection to the sewage system
- Broken or deteriorated water pipes
- Outdated electrical wiring
These discoveries have turned our project into a comprehensive renovation, essential for modernizing every aspect of the house. This will not only enhance comfort and safety but also ensure compliance with current energy standards and regulations.
Work Progress
The interior walls were removed first. Then two internal support pillars were replaced to prevent rising damp. The first-floor flooring was excavated down to the foundation, with gaps filled using beams and bricks for stability. Foundations for the stairwell and additional load-bearing walls were then constructed on the exterior. Next, the exterior walls and ground floor were demolished, and the house was connected to the sewage system. Additionally, the pool was dismantled, and the pool area was relocated further into the garden.
Every step and milestone has been thoroughly documented to provide a clear understanding of the work carried out during the construction phase.
